The grass here is almost dormat and the leaves have been heavily falling. Per Meg Mo's advice, they state using the expanded metal as a block off on the chute to allow air to flow through it still.

318 meg-mo review. Bought a set of Meg-Mo blades over the winter for my 318 with 50" deck and I thought I would share my experiences. The actual blade on meg-mows is only about 4'-4 1/2" long, the rest is the flat heavy steel disk app. 3/8-1/2" thick. Several things concern me about Meg-Mo blades if I was a pro cutter or put a mower out anywhere besides the "back 40". Harder blades (north of HRc 45) have been exhaustively tested by OEM's and are very difficult to get past the stake test. The swing blade design probably helps blade fracture during impact but I would still be mindful.

When you encounter heavy grass with a fixed blade system the engine comes under load because there is no give, the blades won't fold back. When you encounter heavy grass with the Meg-Mo the knives will fold back simply because they can.Meg-Mo blades are the most recent addition to the market for rotary saw blades.
