Many of the D3 schools that my D matches well with academically are T30 schools. They still need to be pre-cleared (aka every bit written to 0), but you can probably skip the pre and post read steps to save some time. The first parity drive calculates parity by adding up the same bit across all drives. Adding another 0 to 1 or 0 doesn't change the parity bit. That's why the preclear step is required..
